The Blue Wren…
There are many blue wrens in the garden and bush around here, I hear them brightening the landscape, before I see them. Lots of contented chirping coming from the scrub and undergrowth; they sound delightfully joyful. And when I look I can see them moving around, flitting gently and with ease from one place to the next.
I spent the first half of my life trying to work everything out in my head, analysing in the hope of getting it “right” or to “do the right thing”; the “shoulds” and “should nots” to fit in to the individual, family and cultural narratives I grew up in. As I experienced being in the flow, resonating with my truth and authentically being me, I felt a huge contrast in the duality. When I am impacted by my own or others’ unconscious emotions I am wiped out like a flattened bird and when I am being the truth of me, I am flying like the chirpy blue wren, my soul soaring.
My journey…
has unfolded in many different directions, each has played a part in my awareness and understanding of the influence of our stories on how we behave, our actions and reactions, and why we make the choices we do. My noticing is about looking for possibility and potential; understanding the ways we are not in alignment with the truth of who we are and as a result, fail to show up authentically. I question the quality of the knowing and doing, and the status quo, if maintaining the status quo means being silenced or silencing oneself, continuing indifference, atrophy or entropy.
I’ve experienced living and working in different countries, with people from different cultures. I have a double major in Japanese language and literature and worked in a Japanese travel company for 10 years, liaising with customers and managing and training staff to develop the quality of interactions.
I am the mother of two beautiful young adults, and am grateful to both of them for their awesome, unique journeys. I worked with RDI Consultants using Dr Steven Gutstein’s Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) Program. In 2008 I completed clinical training and worked as a RDI Program Certified Consultant and Autism Specialist as a member of Connect and Relate for Autism Inc for ten years. My clients, many of whom were funded by the Helping Children with Autism Government initiative or the National Disability Insurance Scheme, ranged in age from 2 years old to 50 years old. I worked directly with teenagers and adults as well as with parents, families, schools and Disability Organisations.
From 2013, I integrated the learning opportunities through the World Business Executive Coaches Summit (WBECS) into my work practices. From 2018 to 2021 I completed Dr David Drake’s Narrative Coaching, Beyond Coaching, Integrative Development and Narrative Release Programs and associated practitioner certifications. In 2020, I created my own Integrative Development project and process work – the Serious Play Cafe Program.
In 2021/22 I explored Dr Claire Zammit’s work including her Feminine Power principles and Transformation Matrix. This has led to ongoing experiences of the powerful organic synergies when women consciously choose to sponsor and support each other. At the same time that I was learning to abseil and prussik, so that I could help Stefan photograph the caves in Tasmania, I created the Listening for Truth Circles, and the Listening for Truth Frameworks.
2023/24 Australia’s largest limestone cave system under threat. 2023 Stefan and I spent 9 weeks on the Nullarbor recording images to raise awareness about the spectacular hidden world of ancient caves, blowholes, dolines and rock holes.
It all comes together in the helping to notice. I live and work in the Serious Play of Listening for Truth. Notice and make the distinctions that step us out of narratives that limit. Notice and show up from the distinctions that give clarity for new ways of being and valuing. Recognition, Respect, Responsiblity…www.savethenullarbor.org
